Description

What are we doing in this practical project? Well, as the title says, we’re developing a game. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Develop something and get credit points for it, it couldn’t be easier!

You’d think so, but video games are one of the most demanding and extensive types of software. So many disciplines play a key role here that listing them all would go beyond the maximum character limit.

To give you an insight into this varied and exciting subject area, we will throw you in at the deep end and let you design and implement your own video game in groups by going through the entire development process once. At the end of the semester, you will have your own game in your hands (at least if you print it out frame by frame).

It may sound easy at first, but it’s not. You will often reach your limits: Be it working in a team or dealing with the game engine. This is absolutely what we want, so that you can make mistakes in a protected environment and learn a lot from them. But beware: this practical project is very demanding and time-consuming, so if you can’t or don’t want to do this, this is not the right practical project for you; if you can, you will gain a very comprehensive and extremely instructive insight into the games industry.

In addition, you will also work on and answer the topics and questions that interest you; the project is therefore largely geared towards your interests.

If that sounds good so far, we would be delighted to welcome you to the 3rd edition of this practical project.

Further information on the organization and credit acquisition will be available as a DLC, which will be made available for download in our Moodle course after the introductory event: To the Moodle Course
